Contactless Detection of Objects
Photoelectronic sensors can detect or count objects without contact, measure distances and detect colors, gloss or luminescence using light. The additional connection of special fiber-optic cables permits their use in extreme conditions such as cold, heat or limited space.
WERMA presents the compact MC 55 LED recessed beacon as a new touch version and with smart additional functions
The successful MC product family from WERMA impresses with up to seven colors in just one luminaire. The series is available in two different sizes and optionally with or without additional acoustics. Thanks to the high IP69K protection rating and UL approval for the US market, the MC range of beacons can also be used in extreme conditions worldwide. The MC55 series is now also available as a touch version with smart functions.
Powerful, robust and compact product family in two sizes
The MC series from WERMA is available in two sizes: the MC35 has a diameter of 35 mm and the MC55 measures 55 mm. Both LED lights offer up to seven colors - red, yellow, green, white, blue, violet and turquoise - in a single light. Alternatively, a tricolor version with the colors red, yellow and green is available. All models are also available with loud acoustics to attract additional attention.
The lights are not only clearly visible from all sides, but also offer a long service life of up to 50,000 hours, making them particularly easy to maintain. They are also robust and designed for extreme operating conditions. Thanks to the high IP69K protection rating and UL approval for the US market, they can be used worldwide, including in food processing and other demanding industries.
New variants with smart touch function
WERMA is now expanding the compact MC series with two new models: the MC55 Touch and MC55 Touch Smart. Both variants offer additional smart functions such as status change by touch, acknowledgement and time-based escalation modes. This provides even more flexibility and smart solutions for industrial applications.
The new products add an innovative touch function to the MC55 series and offer intelligent solutions for modern machine and system control:
- The new MC55 Touch offers three predefined colors red, yellow and green in just one light. The user can trigger a pulse signal by touching it and thus provide feedback to a control system.
- In addition to the touch function, the MC 55 Touch Smart also offers the option of configuring the entire product behavior via software: For example, the colors, the light pattern (continuous, flashing, strobe or pulsating) or the tone type can be set. The output can also be set in two modes, pulse signal or 24V switching.
Smart software included
The "MC 55 Touch Smart" offers extended functionalities that can be easily customized using the intuitive WERMA configuration software. Various signaling modes, illuminated images, tones and time-controlled escalations can be defined. Up to two escalation levels including time settings are possible for each status. In addition to acknowledging a signal or alarm, the MC 55 Touch can also control machine functions with an output signal - such as starting or stopping.
The software is designed to be user-friendly and enables simple configuration to meet the individual requirements of different applications.
Versatile areas of application
The new Smart versions of the MC 55 offer numerous and varied areas of application, for example:
- Acknowledgement of machine failures: The MC 55 Touch can trigger visual and audible alarms in the event of a machine failure. The operator can acknowledge the alarm by touching it and send a feedback signal to the control system.
- Starting and stopping machine cycles: The machine cycle can be started or stopped by touching it, sending a feedback signal to the control system.
- Switching peripheral devices: The MC 55 Touch can control peripheral devices directly and switch up to 200 mA.
- Time-based escalations: In the event of a defined event, such as a conveyor belt coming to a standstill, the MC55 can trigger a red warning light. If there is no reaction, an acoustic signal is also activated after a defined time to generate additional attention.

Safety edges
Safety edges are sensors that protect shearing and crushing edges against pinching hazards. If the safety edge encounters an obstacle, for example if a hand gets caught in a closing door, the automatic movement is stopped immediately.
We offer Safety Edges as normally open contacts or normally closed chains, depending on the switching principle.
With the safety edge self-assembly, we give you the opportunity to manufacture your safety edges quickly and inexpensively yourself.
